What it builds

Every letter, four ways in

An animal, an action, a colour and a feeling for every letter of the alphabet.

1

Letters and sounds

Linking every letter to its sound, said aloud and acted out.

2

Colours and describing words

Busy Bees in brown, a Friendly Frog in fern green, Lazy Lions in lemon yellow.

3

Feelings

Understanding, expressing and regulating feelings by connecting them with animals and everyday things.

4

Counting and movement

Colour frogs in groups of five, then leap like frogs. Move coins along a bee's path with both hands.

5

Imagination and visualisation

My favourite pages for every letter: a brush, a park, a market shop. Self directed and personal.

Why four ways

A letter a child has acted out, coloured in and linked to a feeling stays with them far longer than one they have only traced.

How it works

One letter at a time, many ways in.

Hear it, colour it, move it, feel it. Then make it your own on a My Favourite page.

1
Meet the letter

Bb says for Busy Bees, Ff for Friendly Frog, Ll for Lazy Lions. Say the sound out loud together.

2
Colour and count

Colour the bees in brown. Colour frogs in groups of five in fern green, then count the groups.

3
Move and play

Teaching tips turn each letter into a game: leap like frogs in fives, act out how you feel when lazy.

4
Make it your own

My Favourite pages for every letter: my favourite brush, park, market shop. Draw it, name it.

In the box

  • Activity book, 63 pages, A to Z
  • An animal and a describing word for every letter
  • Colouring, counting and movement activities
  • Teaching tips and group games for adults
  • My Favourite pages for every letter

Why we made this

One teacher. One scientist.

Vaishali Gupta spent twenty years in education watching bright children decide they were “bad at science”, usually before they were seven, and usually after being handed a worksheet.

The problem was never ability. It was that science arrived as a set of answers to memorise, instead of a question worth chasing.

So she built what she wanted for her own classroom: activities that need no lab, no screen, and no expertise from the adult in the room.

Every order funds the SLATE Program. 5% of what you spend puts learning materials into the hands of children who would otherwise go without.

Before you ask

Questions parents actually send us

Is this a tracing book?
No. There is no copying letters row after row. Each letter comes through an animal, a colour, a movement game and a feeling, with teaching tips for the adult.
What age is it for?
Ages 4 and up. An adult reads the teaching tips and joins the games; the My Favourite pages are the child's own to fill.
